Red Cross Babysitting Course Targets Teens

Never leave an infant unattended. Burp a baby one-third through the bottle. Always put an infant to sleep on its back, face up.

To a parent, these precautions seem obvious, but if your adolescent were asked to baby-sit for a family friend tomorrow, would he or she be ready for the job?

The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Course provides new babysitters with the skills and confidence they need to make important decisions when caring for a child.

From performing CPR to handling a child who won’t sleep, this course is packed with important safety tips and strategies for babysitters. Targeted for teens, ages 11-15, the class uses games, role-playing and fill-in-the-blank review for a fun, informative program.

The course fee also includes a Babysitter’s Handbook, nylon tote bag, Red Cross first-aid kit and flashlight. A ten-hour course, it is offered as two five-hour sessions or one full day class.

The Red Cross Babysitting Course makes a great gift for a grandchild, niece, nephew, family friend or your babysitter. Call Lori at 401.831.7700 ext. 110 for more information or a schedule.
