Red Cross assisting East Providence family
involved in afternoon fire
The American Red Cross, RI Chapter is assisting 1 family involved in today's fire at 67 School Street in
East Providence. Four families were affected and three of those families opted to stay with relatives. The Red Cross is providing emergency food and shelter assistance to 4 adults and 1 infant.
The RI Chapter typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
