WE WANT YOU!
There's no greater satisfaction than helping a neighbor in need --- just ask any Red Cross volunteer! No matter what
your age, ability, amount of time or interest, we have a volunteer opportunity for you!
All volunteers must submit to a background check investigation.
DISASTER SERVICES
The Red Cross of Rhode Island needs individuals to provide emergency relief to disaster victims. Disaster
team members are on a rotating shift, responding to house fires, weather emergencies and other disasters. You will be trained, free of charge, in First Aid, CPR and other disaster courses. We have an acute need for
Spanish-speaking volunteers. Opportunities to participate in disaster relief around the country. Approximately 20 hours required training. View a listing of required Emergency Services courses.
PREPAREDNESS AND HEALTH & SAFETY
The Chapter offers many diverse opportunities for volunteers interested in providing
emergency life saving information to the community. The various functions include first aid stations and health fairs. Also available are opportunities in becoming a
Health and Safety Instructor to teach classes such as CPR, First Aid, Babysitters Training, Water Safety, and Lifeguard Instruction. Training is available and consists
of approximately 20-30 hours of instruction. Schedules vary depending on level of teaching. Click here for more information.
OFFICE SUPPORT
The Chapter collaborates with agencies such as RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer
Program), Opportunities Unlimited, VCRI (Volunteer Center of Rhode Island) and individuals throughout the state to provide them with meaningful volunteer
opportunities. Office support includes data entry, filing, typing, correlating handouts and mailings and answering telephones. Hours are very flexible, but must be within
office hours of 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
FUNDRAISING
Help raise funds for the Red Cross. Ideas such as dress down days, donation
canister distribution, site displays, volunteer fairs and various are fun and easy to do. No training required. View more fundraising ideas.
