Red Cross assisting 2 Providence families
involved in afternoon fire
The American Red Cross, RI Chapter is assisting 2 families involved in today's fire at 191 Cleveland
Street in Providence. Two families were affected and the Red Cross is providing emergency food and shelter assistance to 10 people – 6 adults and 4 children. This is the second fire in 24 hours for the
RI Chapter of the Red Cross.
The RI Chapter typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
