Red Cross assisting 5 adults affected by last
night's fire
The American Red Cross, RI Chapter responded to a triple-decker house fire at 127 Ridge Street in
Providence at 9:00 pm last evening. The family on the third floor consisted of 5 adults and they required emergency food and shelter assistance from the Red Cross. College students lived on the 1st
and 2nd floors and they opted to stay with friends. The Red Cross is working with the students this morning to determine and provide what assistance is needed.
The RI Chapter typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
