RI Red Cross assisting 15 Pawtucket residents
displaced by fire
RI Red Cross volunteers responded to a fire at a 6-family unit located at 17 Charles Street in
Pawtucket this morning. In all, five families were displaced – 12 adults and 3 children. They received emergency food and shelter assistance from RI Red Cross volunteers.
The Red Cross of Rhode Island typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
