JAMESTOWN YOUTH TO LEARN LIFESAVING BABYSITTING SKILLS WHAT American Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter Babysitting Course. Each participant will receive an American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certificate. WHO Young adults, both boys and girls, from the ages of 11-15 WHY Participants will learn how to: •Perform first aid and get professional help fast •Identify common safety hazards and prevent injuries •Make good, responsible decisions •Supervise infants through school-age children •Choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games •Perform basic care routines like diapering, feeding and dressing •Prepare simple meals and snacks •Handle bedtime issues •Find and interview for babysitting jobs WHEN Saturday, September 24th, from 9:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m Registration will begin Thursday, September 1st at 12 noon. WHERE Jamestown Philomenian Library, 26 North Road, Jamestown, RI 02835 In Fiscal Year 2004, The American Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter taught 19,411 Rhode Islanders vital life saving skills like CPR and first aid, in our communities and workplaces. Over 2,961 Rhode Islanders have learned to swim or become a lifeguard and 458 youngsters learned lifesaving skills through Babysitter's Training. The RI Red Cross taught 2,338 courses this past fiscal year! For information on this course please visit the library or call 423-7280 to sign up.
